The former Taoiseach Micheal Martin has tendered his resignation to President Michael D Higgins in the Aras.
Higgins met with Martin and his wife and was presented with Martin’s resignation.
It’s expected Martin with be given the role of Minister for Foreign Affairs in the new government.
Leo Varadkar is expected to become Taoiseach again, much to the dismay of many.
