The world’s number 1 tennis player Novak Djokonic has beaten the odds and has had his Visa reinstated meaning he can play the Australian Open.
Accepting to sky:
- Novak Djokovic wins appeal against cancellation of visa in Australia
- The tennis star argued he should be allowed to enter the country because he has recently been infected with COVID and was entitled to a medical exemption
- But Australian officials had claimed Djokovic was not told that his “so-called medical exemption” would allow him to compete in the Australian Open
- However, the immigration minister will now consider whether to exercise a “personal power” of cancellation
It means that if he goes on to win the Oz Open, he’ll pass Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal for the most slams ever.
