Pushed on whether he’ll need to “address the nation” before Christmas, Martin said that he needs to have good discussions with NPHET
Asked about whether people should fly home for Christmas, will they be allowed home Christmas dinner, Martin said that he cannot say whether or not he’ll need to address the nation and that further restrictions and lockdowns cannot be ruled out being announced before Christmas.
Along with that, Martin said that a week is a long time in covid and that anything can happen.
Possibly the most frustrating part of what Martin said, or didn’t say, is whether or not people should or allowed book flights to make it home for Christmas.
If, or more likely when, a lockdown or further restrictions get imposed on the Irish public, it’s likely to be met with much anger considering the lengths people have gone to over the past 21 months as it is.
