🔴BREAKING: Met Eireann issue severe status Yellow ice warning for the entire country

Met Éireann has issued a yellow ice status alert for Ireland.

Dangerous driving conditions are to be expected, especially on unpaved roads and trails, the forecaster said. Some patches of ice fog are also possible.

The bad weather warning is in effect until 12 noon tomorrow.

It will be cold tonight with intense frosts and widespread frosts. Towards the morning temperatures drop from -4 to +1 degrees.

Isolated winter showers will last for a while, most commonly in Atlantic coastal regions.

Tomorrow will be dry in most areas, with patches of frost and ice lingering throughout the morning. Some sleet showers are expected, especially along the Atlantic coast, with possible even isolated snowfalls.

There will also be occasional clear spells, especially towards the east, with maximum temperatures between 1 and 4°C.

Motorists have been advised to check their tires before driving on icy roads.

The Road Safety Administration has said that when a tire’s tread depth drops below 3mm, it should be replaced.

The UK Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning for Northern Ireland.
