Several people have been injured after a red van plowed into a Christmas parade in Wisconsin, USA tonight. It’s understood the driver is on the run.
Video from the crime scene appears to show the vehicle rapidly approaching protesters in a western suburb of Milwaukee.
Police reportedly opened fire when they hit barriers on the street. Among the injured were elderly women who were part of a “Dancing Grannies” float at the parade.
Kaylee Staral, a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel intern, witnessed the incident.
She told CNN: ‘Probably around 20 to 30 minutes into the parade, a red SUV came running down the middle of the street – there were a lot of screams – and we almost thought maybe it was Santa, but it was a red SUV and it hit a lot of people.
She said that after the car left there were ‘multiple people on the ground’, adding that police said 30 people could have been affected.
