Zak Moradi, who only moved to Ireland 20 years ago, said on RTE’s Upfront show that he finds 99% of Irish people are genuine people, and you are going to get racism everywhere. He said that “there is racism everywhere.”
“When I look at these protests going on around the country, even at East Wall and Ballymun, they’re protesting on a Tuesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon, these people are out of work.”
He said, while referring to decent concerned Irish citizens who are protesting against migrants being planted in their area, that they’re angry at the government and maybe there should be an increase in social welfare.
He questioned where these people get the time to protest and block the M50. These people are out of work and are angry at the government, taking it out on refugees.
In what has been described on social media as as a grossly arrogant and bigoted comment, Moradi said that these people are out of work and find any east way to blame refugees.
One social media user said that he arrogantly said “they should raise the social welfare payment”.
