Gardai have confirmed that they’re investigating the alleged physical assault of a young girl by a man, The Liberal understands is believed to be a migrant, at a hotel in Kildare.
However, The Liberal understands that gardai are not considering the incident a sexual crime, at least at this time, despite major coverage on social media that the incident was indeed a sexual crime. Gardai say they are not investigating it as a sexual crime, whether that changes as the investigation goes on and gardai learn more about the incident, remains to be seen.
Rumours circulated on social media that a 7-yr-old young girl staying at the hotel near Celbridge, where migrants are staying, was violently sexually assaulted by three migrants on the grounds of the facility.
The claims saw major protests outside the hotel on Tuesday evening, which saw things getting very heated from locals.
It’s understood that gardai are liaising with Tusla, the child and family agency.
