The army has carried out a controlled explosion after a man sadly died in an explosion at a homeless hostel in Dublin yesterday.
The Defence Forces Explosives Ordnance Disposal Experts carried out the operation at the premises in Little Britain St late on Thursday night.
Around 3pm on Thursday afternoon emergency services were call to the De Paul Homeless Hostel in Little Britain Street in Dublin’s north inner city.
Following an explosion inside the premises, Gardai say that a man in his 30s was killed.
A total of 73 other residents at the hostel were not injured and were taken to alternative accommodation for the night.
An investigation into the original explosion has begun.
