🔴BREAKING: Yellow wind warning in effect for 10 counties as extremely strong winds are forecast

A yellow wind warning went into effect overnight for several counties with forecasts of “very strong gusts”, reports RTE.

The notice is in effect for counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford until 9pm.

An additional notice for counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Mayo goes into effect tomorrow at 1pm.

It will last until 5pm tomorrow.

A separate orange wind alert will be in effect for West Clare from 2.00pm to 5.00am and County Kerry from 2.00pm to 8.00am.

Met Éireann said there would be widespread gusts between 90km/h and 110km/h, possibly strongest along coastal areas and on high ground, reports RTE.

The meteorologist also warned of the passage of waves on some coastal areas.

Meteorologist Siobhan Ryan said conditions were expected to be windy and rainy tonight and tomorrow.

Speaking to Today with Philip Boucher-Hayes, she said the wind will pick up, while tomorrow there is “very windy picture nationwide,” adding that the northwesterly wind will be getting stronger, reports RTE.

The rain will accompany that wind, she said, with very heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and possible hailstorms.

Meanwhile, the UK’s Met Office has also issued a yellow rain warning for counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

This notice went into effect from 3pm and will remain in effect until 3am tomorrow.

An additional warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry comes into effect at 11am tomorrow and ends at 8pm the same evening, reports RTE.
