11-yr-old Lexie Delaney has been selflessly working with homeless people for the past 4 years – yes, since she was 7!
The generous girl started a toy appeal for children in emergency accommodation, which really took off. Lexie won the fundraiser of the year Award at the image woman of the year Awards on the 10th of December.
Lexie raised €3000 in August and shared it between a few different charities but the biggest chunk of it was spent on the toy appeal. Lexie’s mum Lillian told The Liberal that her daughter loved going shopping to buy all the presents for the children. She told us that there was around 200 presents and 100 selection boxes plus boxes of crisps and sweets for the kids.
Between getting her own school and her dance school involved in fundraising, Lexie was shortlisted for the volunteer Ireland Awards on the 6th of December her category was the campaigning and Awareness.
After a well deserved break over Christmas Lexie is said to already be back doing her homeless charity work.
