A 70-year-old woman has died following a pedestrian incident in Ballina, Co Mayo late last night.
She was hit by a vehicle while walking on Emmet Street around 9.15pm.
The woman was taken from the scene to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, before being brought back to Castlebar where she died at around 9.30am this morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
