A life long lived: Ireland’s oldest person Sarah Clancy has passed away at the magnificent age of 108

Sarah Clancy, 108

Ireland’s oldest citizen, Sarah Clancy, passed away this morning at the grand age of 108 years old.
Clancy from Sruthán, An Cheathrú Rua, Connemara passed away peacefully at her home.

Sarah Treasa Clancy was born in 1908. Her life overlapped that of Patrick Pearse who incidentally lived ten miles down the road in Ros Muc.

Another of Ms Clancy’s neighbours was Bruce Ismay, owner of the Titanic, who moved to nearby Casla Lodge in 1913.

Amazingly, until the age of 107 Ms Clancy refused the use of any wheelchair.
