African governments protest as”black people are being evicted and banned” from restaurants in China over fears they are spreading the Covid-19

There is an increasing trend of discrimination against Africans living in China over fears amongst the native population that black people are spreading the Covid-19 virus.

African governments are attempting to pressure Beijing into taking action after footage and images emerged online of evicted African migrants in the country sleeping on the on the streets as racism against black people is being amplified by fears over the Covid-19 virus.

A McDonald’s restaurant in China have begun to ban black people from entering their store, claiming that they are taking these measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus and there are reports other diners are following suit.

CNN has also reported numerous businesses in Chinese cities are denying services to Africans as fears mount of a second outbreak of novel Coronavirus.

It is unknown if other McDonald’s outlets in the country, where ironically the virus originates, are following suit but the restaurant in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou where there are almost 14,000 African migrants living has faced condemnation from the Westerners on twitter.

A video, uploaded by a Twitter account “Black Livity China”, sparked outrage on social media.

“Banning black people is f***ing insane. The world needs to know about this. China calls racism all the time, this is REAL racism” one commenter wrote.

However, the Chinese government and people have historically paid little to no attention to liberal/progressive outrage on Twitter at their apparent xenophobia or racism.
