Gardai have said that a very sinister and serious event happened in Co Kerry after a man attempted the abduction of 11-yr-old boy.
The boy was practising his football skills on his own at Scartaglin GAA pitch.
A man, dressed in dark clothing and aged roughly in his 30s, started watching the boy play. The young boy got worried and made a run for it but the man ran after the boy, even following him through a makeshift fence and onto a main road.
Gardai say the boy in question is extremely credible and that his account of things is believed to be true. The man was driving a dark coloured car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf.
Gardai are appealing for information and any dash cam footage of the area. They have warned people to be extremely vigilant, not to let their children out to vast areas unaccompanied. People have been advised to share this information with their friends.
