Of the 1.37 million workers the company and its subsidiary Whole Foods employ in the US, over 19,816 of them have tested positive for the coronavirus. This represents about 1.44% of its enormous workforce, according to the BBC.
The giant retail and tech company said the numbers were lower than expected, but Amazon has still been met with huge criticism. It continued to operate throughout the pandemic to meet the enormous spike in business, as lockdown measures meant more customers flocked to its online businesses.
