A wedding after-party, attended by more than 120 party goers took place in a 2,000 square ft marquee in Longford town this week.

Hours earlier, the local authority obtained a circuit court order to remove the marquee pitched at Longford Wanderers FC grounds but that didn’t stop the revellers celebrating the wedding.

According to the Irish Mirror, an order for a takeaway to feed the crowd was placed at a local fast food outlet with the bill totalling a staggering €3,000.

A private security company was hired by the local council to move in on the site but by the time they arrived a large crowd had already gathered inside the marquee, reports the Mirror.

RTE reports that Judge Keenan Johnson has received a “list of names” including those of the bride and groom, marquee supplier and the catering company. Judge Keenan Johnson directed they appear before a special sitting of the court on Monday at 2pm.

Superintendent Jim Delaney of Longford Garda Station said he became aware of the wedding after an anonymous tip-off to gardaí.
