There have been some truly amazing images of space captured by photographers over the years, but this one is will be considered to be up there with the best as this beautiful astronomical picture of five planets captured in alignment is a sight to be hold.
The amazing picture was captured by astro-photographer John Chumack whilst on a business trip recently. The staggering shot amazingly shows Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter in a diagonal line across the night sky, with the moon providing the perfect backdrop.
Mr Chumack’s say’s he travelled to the US state of Virginia to take the amazingly outside a friend’s home near Warrenton , after he failed to get the image he wanted in his home state of Ohio. The photographer also said he used a Canon 6D DSLR with an 8mm fisheye lens to make sure he got the perfect shot.
A delighted John told reporters: “I had been trying for several mornings while on my business trip to the Washington DC area, it was right after their big snowstorm.” “I finally had a clear window of opportunity, I walked up to the end of the road so I could see them all (the planets) but Mercury was low and in the trees near the horizon, but 10 minutes later it rose up – high enough to capture.”
Wow I think we can all agree this is one terrific photograph.
