Bank of Ireland have issued a warning to its customers following reports of a text messaging phishing scam.
The warning comes after a number of customers claimed to have received a text from the bank asking them to click on a link in order to update their account to make it more secure.
However in a tweet the bank has warned customers saying that they never issue such texts asking for personal information.
The bank are advising customers not to follow its instructions but instead to delete the message immediately.
We are aware of a smishing/fraudulent SMS which has been sent. Bank of Ireland will never send an SMS asking for personal information. Please do not click any links and delete SMS. Thank you.
