Motorists have been urged to take extra care this morning as frost and icy patches are expected in many areas following a bitterly cold night.
According to Met Éireann, many areas will see frost and icy conditions as temperatures will remain relatively low this morning.
The warning comes as temperatures dropped to as low as – 3C overnight.
Meanwhile the national forecaster has said Saturday will remain bitterly cold as temperatures are expected to reach no higher than 8C.
It is also expected that there will be scattered showers and brisk winds throughout out the day, although it is expected to be sunnier in the south of the country.
