Italian police are investigating after it emerged that a Belgian woman (32) who was living in Italy was kidnapped by Middle Eastern migrants and held captive for two months where she was repeatedly raped.
The woman, who was living in the coastal town of Sanremo, int the north-west of Italy in early 2017 when she approached a migrant man looking to buy drugs.
The man along with five others, all of whom are Tunisian migrants, then took the woman prisoner and brought her to their house where they raped her repeatedly and invited other migrant men to rape her in exchange for money.
The rapist migrants kept close watch over the woman and guarded the house constantly to prevent her escape.
The tortuous ordeal ended when the North African migrants suddenly released her in February 2017.
Details of the case are only now being released by Italian media reports that police detained six Tunisian men, aged between 23 and 50, and charged them with kidnapping, group sexual violence, rape and forced prostitution.
The pre-trial hearing of the case took place on January 25th.
Italy, like many of its European neighbours, has experienced an explosion in horrific criminal atrocities, particularly those of a sexual nature since seeing an influx of hundreds of thousands of Muslim and Sub-Saharan migrants.
