As if things didn’t feel like 1984 already, it appears as though fiction could become fact very soon.
Tech goliaths Apple and Google have launched a joint venture would make it easier to use mobile phone’s Bluetooth wireless technology to track down people for who may have been infected Covid-19 virus carriers.
The project is supposedly designed to help national governments roll out apps for so-called “contact tracing” that will run on both iPhones and Android phones.
The app will record other phones with which they came into close proximity with using wireless Bluetooth technology and this data will used to alert individuals if they have potentially become infected after coming into contact with some who was or has been diagnosed with Covid-19.
Similar apps have already been rolled in in several countries to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus, including its country of origin China with several European states, including the UK, Germany and France planning similar roll outs.
