In a traffic accident in County Cork, a man in his 30s lost his life, reports RTE.
His automobile is said to have struck a ditch and plunged into a river on the R571 at Eyeries in west Cork, killing the lone traveler.
His remains were sent to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem assessment, reports RTE.
There are local detours in place when the R571 is blocked for a technical inspection.
Garda are urging anybody who may have dash cam or other video evidence from witnesses or anyone who was in the Eyeries area between 1 and 6 am to call the Bantry Garda Station at 27 20860, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or any other garda station, reports RTE.
