
A fire or a possible gas link as occured at the Penneys branch on West Street in Drogheda, Co Louth, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Firefighters from Drogheda and surrounding stations are on scene with the entire store evacuated.
All staff and customers have safely been evacuated, thankfully with no reported injuries. The cause of the emergency remains under investigation, though locals say there was possibly a gas leak with an adjoining shop.
The popular retail store has been temporarily closed as a precaution while structural safety checks are carried out.
