Gardai have confirmed that a woman, aged in her 80s, has died following a road traffic collision near Kilrush in Co Clare on Sunday.
The crash involved two cars and happened on the R473 at Kilcarroll at 2pm.
The driver and sole occupant of one of the cars, a woman aged in her 80s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body has taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.
No other injuries were reported from the crash.
The road was closed for a time pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, but has since reopened.
Gardaà are appealing for any witnesses to this crash to come forward with dash-cam footage.
