An elderly man in his 80s died in a house fire near Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.
Emergency services responded to the blaze in Gilbertstown around 1am, where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was taken to the mortuary at Regional Hospital Mullingar, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled.
This follows the deaths of a man and woman in a house fire in Co Galway on Tuesday.
