Police in Leicester have declared a major incident after an explosion is reported in the city this evening.
According to media reports in the UK as many as six fire engines have been despatched to the scene of an an explosion on the Hinckley Road.
It is understood Leicestershire police and fire services received a call at approximatley 7:03pm this evening alerting them to a blast in the area.
Police say the situation is currently being treated as a search and rescue operation.
Some reports on social media have claimed that up to 60 houses have been evacuated and the road around the blaze has been closed off.
