BREAKING: Met Eireann issue snow and ice warnings for 11 counties

Eleven counties in the island’s north and northwest are under a Status Yellow snow and ice warning, reports RTE.

According to Met Éireann, counties Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, and Sligo might see accumulations of snow this evening and tonight.

Poor visibility and challenging travel conditions are two potential effects, according to the forecaster, reports RTE.

From 7 p.m. tonight until 8 a.m. tomorrow, the warning is in effect.

Additionally, Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry are under a yellow snow and ice warning.

According to the UK Met Office, travel conditions will be challenging due to snow and slippery roads, reports RTE.

From 3 p.m. today until 10 a.m. tomorrow, the warning will be in force.

The snow warning is issued as temperatures begin to drop dramatically starting today and continuing for the majority of the week, reports RTE.

According to Met Éireann, there is a chance of sleet, snow, and hail for some people, along with wintry risks including frost and ice.

For the whole nation, a secondary Status Yellow warning for ice and low temperatures has been issued for tomorrow evening through Wednesday morning, reports RTE.

In addition to warning that there may be some travel disruption, Met Éireann stated it will be extremely cold with widespread frost and ice patches, which might result in dangerous conditions on roads and pathways.

The warning will remain in force from 8 p.m. tomorrow until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, reports RTE.
