The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has just announced in the Dail that so-called “enhanced restrictions” may be needed across Ireland once again in January or February.
The former Taoiseach was speaking as covid numbers remain quite stable but not overly reduced with 226 cases today and 6 further deaths.
The government will announce on Thursday what will and will not be allowed reopen next Wednesday when Level 5 is due to be lifted. However, judging by Varadkar’s comments today, it appears that the lifting of lockdown restrictions may be only for the festive season.
