The journal’s fact-check investigated Conor McGregor’s claims of Irish people in small rural villages being outnumbered by foreigners. They show CSO stats that depict that not be the case.
“There are rural towns in Ireland that have been overrun in one swoop, that have become a minority in one swoop,” McGregor claimed in the White House.
However, according to the journal’s fact-check, evidence suggests that this claim about migrants in Ireland is false.
They say that the most reliable figures from CSO’s most recent census, taken in April 2022, include figures of Ukrainians and others seeking asylum came into the country at that time.
Thejournal’s article says that “rather than there being “rural towns” where the Irish had become a minority, the results showed that Irish residents were the majority in every town.”
They gave the example that:
“Ballyhaunis in Mayo was the town with the highest proportion of non-Irish residents at 37%,” the release said. “Other towns with a large share of non-Irish citizens included the Longford towns of Ballymahon (33%) and Edgeworthstown (31%).”

McGregor continues to claims that Ireland has been destroyed by utterly unregulated mass migration at the behest of foreign interests and those that only seek to destroy our culture, which appears to be more opinion-based than completely factual.
Fans of the MMA fighter say that the “political traitor-class” in Dublin are outraged at the prospect of McGregor meeting President Donald Trump this afternoon and telling the truth about how Ireland is being destroyed by the political establishment.
