
Two young men in their late teens have died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in County Mayo early this morning.

The incident took place on the local road L5140 at Laghtadawannagh, near Ballina, at approximately 4:15am on Sunday, March 1.
The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other passengers in the vehicle—two boys in their mid-teens and one woman in her late teens—suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital for treatment.
The road remains closed while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination, with local diversions in place.
The coroner has been notified, and post-mortem examinations are expected to take place in due course.
Gardaà are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who may have dash-cam or other camera footage from the area around the time of the crash.
