Ukrainian units have entered the strategic city of Izium, dislodging the Russian defenders and forcing them to go on the run.
Izium is located roughly halfway between the city of Kharkiv and the separatist regions. The Russian army had controlled Izium for the past 5 months and had used it as a base of operations in that sector.
Reports emerging from the area say that the Russians departed in a hurry, leaving weapons and ammo caches behind as they fled.
