The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that new coronavirus cases might reach 160 per day in a matter of weeks.
According to Mr. Donnelly, a second wave is not yet underway in Ireland, but indications are that cases continue to rise.
The R number has reportedly risen to between 1.2 and 1.8, which does not bode well for the country.
The number of new infections has increased dramatically in most countries after lifting restrictions.
