The number of Covid-19-related deaths across the US has risen to almost 80,000, even as some states move to reopen their economies.
A team of scientists working on behalf of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington has forecast that, if the trend continues, more than 137,000 people will die from Covid-19 in America by early August.
The significant increase in death toll has been squarely blamed at the premature easing of lockdown restrictions plus people not abiding by guidelines.
