The crew on board the Irish Naval Vessel the LÉ Eithne have been praised for their heroics after they rescued 183 people from the Mediterranean this morning.
It is believed the crew were called at 6am this morning after a make shift vessel with 113 migrants on board got inti distress about 40 kilometres off the Libyan coast.
Meanwhile a further 70 people were rescued a short time later after a another vessel got in distress.
The migrants on board were given food, water and medical treatment.
