A great deal of sensitive information was put in jeopardy when thousands of documents, believed to belong to farmers, were found scattered along the Tuam to Athenry road, near Ballyglunin, in Co. Galway.
The Data Protection Commissioner has contacted Galway County Council today, to try and identify the data controller responsible for such blatant breach of confidentiality.
The documentation found is believed to relate to the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Environment Protection Scheme and may contain sensitive information such as names, addresses and bank details..
