Debenhams goes into liquidation, most Irish stores will not reopen

Debenhams has collapsed into liquidation, thus becoming the first high-profile retail victim of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The business had been in trouble for some time, but it seems that the forced closure due to the general lockdown has administered its coup de grace.

Debenhams employed about 2,000 people across all its Irish stores, and most of those jobs are now likely gone for good.
