Derry man has his car hijacked after offering help

A man has had his car hijacked after stopping to help what appeared to be an ill man at the side of the road.

The victim was driving along Racecourse Road near the border in Derry at 10.30pm last night when he saw two men on the roadside.

The driver of the vehicle got out to offer assistance to one of the men of whom which he believed to be ill, but he was pushed to the ground before the hijackers made off with his vehicle.

The car understood to be a Mitsubishi pick-up was later found abandoned in the Bloomfield Park area of the city.
One of the hijackers is described as being in his late 20s, approximately 5ft 10ins, of medium build, with short black hair.

He was wearing a dark hooded sweat-top, dark jacket with a high collar and jeans.
The second male is described as being aged in his early 20s, approximately 5ft 8ins, thin and with short brown hair.
He was wearing jeans and a dark sweat-top.
