A 59-year-old care manager has been sentenced to 240 hours community service after being convicted of assault at Áras Attracta in Mayo.
Pat McLoughlin, from Mayfield, Claremorris, was one of six people charged with assualt, and had appealed the severity of a four-month prison sentence, which was imposed earlier this year.
A RTE investigations undercover programme revealed the disgusting behaviour of the staff at the so-called care centre.
Four others were given community service and ordered to pay compensation. The sixth worker will go on trial next month.
The footage shown in the programme was particularly disturbing with people with mental disabilities being thrown around, punched and kicked and laughed and jeered at.
