The Minister for Transport Shane Ross has given no evidence for his claims that people are impaired even after having half a pint and driving.
The TD said he thinks 3 points is too lenient and wants people to be banned from driving if they even had half a pint.
Rural TDs have given Ross more than he can handle by demanding evidence that people are impaired after one drink.
They also said many people who get a taxi home and drive to work the next day will be banned from driving as alcohol will still be in their system.
