Dublin is safe? Bail denied for migrant accused of ‘full force’ running kick to the head of still unresponsive Canadian tourist

A Canadian visitor who was hurt on Sunday on O’Connell Street in Dublin is allegedly still “unresponsive” following a construction worker’s “full force” running kick to the head, reports The Mirror.

Ionut Danca, a 24-year-old Romanian citizen, is accused of assaulting Neno Dolmajian in the early hours of June 23. Danca resides at Rathdown Square, North Circular Road, Dublin 7. On Friday, he appeared in Dublin District Court, where Judge Bryan Smyth rejected bail, ruling that Mr. Danca posed a flight risk.

Mr. Dolmajian, a forty-year-old single man from Montreal, was sent to the Mater Hospital’s intensive care unit after losing consciousness and not recovering, reports The Mirror.

Judge Smyth was informed by Detective Sergeant Eoghan Byrne that the injured person approached and struck up a discussion with the defendants when they were purportedly in Cathal Brugha Street with a group. There was another altercation with the wounded person on O’Connell Street when it was alleged that one of the gang members had hit him. While some “became hostile,” others made an attempt to step in.

The visitor allegedly suffered a “running kick” and was knocked down as they approached the quays. It struck him in the face with full power, according to the detective. With the use of CCTV footage, it was claimed that the accused was to blame for the tourist’s injuries, reports The Mirror.
