Dublin is safe? New members gardaí on their first ever patrol recover tech gear worth €7,000 stolen from tourists in Temple Bar

Three gardaí, including two new trainees who were on their first walkabout of Dublin City, have received praise after they successfully recovered stolen items worth €7,000 from tourists, reports Independent

Probationer gardaí, James King and Michael Bracken had their inaugural duty at Pearse Street station on Sunday morning, having been officially attested at the Garda College on Friday.

The two new gardaí were taken on their first walk, led by a senior garda, around Temple Bar as part of Operation Citizen Patrol, a program aimed at ensuring the safety of the local community, as stated by a Garda spokesperson.

“The three gardaí spotted someone acting suspiciously down a laneway around 10 am. When searched, he had four MacBook Pro laptops, two Kindles and a pair of Bose headphones,” they said, reports Independent.
