Dublin’s Trinity College launches BLM inspired investigation into it’s “colonial past”




Trinity College has been inspired by Black Lives Matter (BLM) activism and has announced a two year investigation to “examine, interrogate and reflect on its complex colonial legacies”, including its past connections to the slave trade and its “historical and intellectual connections to empire”, reports Dublin Live.

An example of how the Trinity Library is named after George Berkeley, a world renowned philosopher and alleged slave owner.

Trinity Provist, Dr Prendergast explained that the Black Lives Matter protests that took place last year led to many students questioning how the college’s past behaviour reflects on modern society.
