An 87-year-old woman forced a Toronto-bound flight to divert to Shannon after allegedly ‘going crazy’ in middair and biting and scratching at least one crew member.
It is understood that the woman, who is believed to have been traveling first class, had to be restrained.
The plane was located at around 1,000 km northwest of Ireland at the time of the incident. The flight crew decided to turn back and land at Shannon Airport.
Gardai awaited at the terminal and took the elderly passenger away for questioning.
