Emotional: John McAreavey is returning to Mauritius to appeal for new information on his wife Michaela’s murder

Michaela McAcreavey’s husband, John, is returning to Mauritius to appeal for new information about her murder.

McAreavey was speaking to the BBC and said he’s heading back to track down Michaela’s killers.

Michaela was murdered in January 2011 when she was just 27-years-old. She was the well known daughter of well known Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Harte. Michaela was known to public when she took part in the Rose of Tralee and truly was a lovely person.

Michaela was found dead in a bath at the four-star Legends Hotel, after returning to her room to get a packet of biscuits while John stayed on the beach.

Police say Michaela unfortunately came upon robbers who proceeded to strangle the young lady leaving her body in the bath.

The animals who did this have never been found or convicted.

Speaking to the BBC, John McAcreavey said:
“Denial of justice is a very difficult thing to bear – it’s a very hard thing to endure,”

“We’ll be appealing to the Mauritian public. We’re hoping that maybe someone will be able to come forward and maybe give us a little bit more information, maybe something that can lead to evidence, to bring us back on the road to justice.”

We wish him well in finding justice for Michaela.
