The match that every English and Welsh fan was waiting for ended in an English win this afternoon as Daniel Sturridge scored a dramatic late winner in Lens this afternoon
In a game that saw England dominate the vast majority of possession saw Wales take a shock lead when Gareth Bale score a superb free kick from 32 yards just before the break. The second half saw England start off more brightly and Roy Hodigson’s men got themselves back in game when Jamie Vardy came on to cancel out Bale’s superb opener early in the second half.
Wales looked second best throughout as England once again dominated the possession and pressed for a winner. However England’s efforts ended up fruitless until Sturridge popped in the 91st minute to slot a low shot past Welsh keeper Danny Ward.
England now top the group with 4 points whilst remain joint second with Slovakia on 3 points with Russia in fourth on 1 point. Both nations still have it their hands to reach the last 16 as England play Slovakia in their final group game, whilst Wales play Russia still with the last 16 firmly in their sights.
