The Fianna Fáil party has claimed that the current coalition Government have to take some of the blame for the brutal shooting of a man at the Regency Hotel in Dublin on Friday afternoon.

The claim comes after the opposition party slammed the government for the reduction of resources in the Gardaí, which is allowing criminals to run riot and do as they wish.

Speaking in Drumcondra recently, Fianna Fail Justice spokesperson Niall Collins said regressive Government policies are giving criminals a free run.

“It is a damning indictment of the Government’s failed policy and their inertia to deal with crime that they have allowed the numbers of Gardaí to dwindle to almost 1200. “The main resource that An Garda Siochana need is man power and we simply don’t have it.

“They have also closed Garda Stations, they have left communities with closed Garda stations unpoliced.”

Fianna Fail’s comments were made in the wake of the terrifying attack at the hotel which saw the brutal murder of David Byrne 32, who was attending a boxing match weigh-in.
