Fifteen children required hospital care in New York in recent days after experiencing an inflammatory disease possibly linked to Covid-19.
The children, aged between 2 and 15, experienced symptoms similar to those of Kawasaki disease, an illness that’s usually confined to Asian countries. Kawasaki normally affects young children exclusively and is usually treatable. While most patients recover, the disease can prove fatal in some rare cases.
It is understood that some of the patients had had a positive Covid-19 diagnosis, while some others had antibodies for the disease.
There have been reports of a similar disease outbreak in other countries such as Italy and Spain.
