The fire occurred in a terraced house in South Belfast in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
The property in question was a vacant house at Walmer Street in the Ormeau area.
Fire services from Central Belfast rushed to the scene, putting out the fire.
Smoke was ventilated from the house and when the property was examined it was confirmed that only minor damage had been caused.
However police are now calling for witnesses.
They believe that the fire was deliberate and have stated that the “police investigation is continuing”
