There was some big news for gamers as Sony confirmed that the much anticipated PlayStation 5 will launch in time for Christmas 2020.
The much talked about console which was confirmed to be in the works back in April, will most likely be on everyone’s 2020 Christmas wishlist as PlayStation chief Jim Ryan confirmed the news that the console will be out in time for the ‘Holiday Season’.
Announcing the console’s release Ryan said: “Since we originally unveiled our next-generation console in April, we know that there’s been a lot of excitement and interest in hearing more about what the future of games will bring.”
“Today I’m proud to share that our next-generation console will be called PlayStation 5, and we’ll be launching in time for Holiday 2020.”
Although no specific date has been revealed, it is thought that the PS5 will launch in November 2020 especially given that previous consoles the PS4 and PS4 Pro launched in the same month.
The announcement will most likely see yet another battle between console manufacturers as Microsoft’s much anticipated follow up to the Xbox One is also expected to be released in 2020.
However Microsoft have yet to provide any details in terms of a release date for its Xbox ‘Scarlett’ console.
