Gardai appealing for information as Pensioner is stabbed in Cork burglary

Gardaí in Co Cork are currently investigating an aggravated burglary on an elderly pensioner in Cork which happened yesterday afternoon, it is understood that the pensioner was assaulted and stabbed in the disgraceful attack.

Gardai say that the 68-year-old man had returned to his house on the Cross Douglas Road in Cork City at approximately 4.30pm yesterday afternoon, and upon his return he found a male intruder.

It is then believed that a struggle occurred between the assailant and the pensioner, it is believed that the pensioner received a head injury and what is thought to have been a stab wound to his lower body.

The 68 year old man was then taken to Cork University Hospital, where his injuries are described as non life threatening.

Gardai have said that the assailant left the property with a computer and camera equipment.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to get contact them.
